Uzodimma Hosts Okigwe Clergy Delegation, Clerics Commend Security Restoration

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Friday received a high-powered delegation of clergymen from the Okigwe Senatorial Zone who visited Government House to express appreciation for what they described as remarkable progress in restoring security and promoting peace across the zone and the entire state.

The delegation, drawn from the Catholic, Anglican and Methodist Churches, told the governor that the improved security situation had brought renewed hope to communities that had previously suffered from the activities of criminal elements.

Governor Uzodimma, while receiving the clerics, described the Church as “the moral conscience of society” and said the sustained collaboration between the government and religious leaders had continued to contribute to peace and development in Imo State.

He noted that the unity displayed by the delegation, cutting across denominational lines, was a strong signal of support for the growth and stability of the state.

The governor urged the clergymen to continue to pray for his administration and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the shared goal of delivering prosperity to Nigerians required collective spiritual and moral support.

The visit, which held at the Imo State Government House, Owerri, also provided an opportunity for the clerics to interact with the governor on issues bordering on the welfare of their members and the continued development of the Okigwe Zone.

Security has remained a top priority of the Uzodimma administration since it assumed office. The governor has consistently maintained that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

The clergy delegation’s commendation comes as residents of several communities in Okigwe Zone continue to report improved safety and a gradual return to normal socio-economic activities.

Political observers say the meeting further underscores the governor’s strategy of engaging critical stakeholders, including religious leaders, in his quest to consolidate peace and accelerate development ahead of the remaining period of his tenure.

The governor’s media team confirmed that similar engagements with other stakeholders across the three senatorial zones would continue as part of efforts to deepen inclusive governance.
