Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has actively mobilized public support for Labour Party (LP) leader Peter Obi, calling on Nigerians to unite behind his vision for a “New Nigeria.” Speaking during a grassroots mobilization and campaign launch under the banner of Celebrities for Peter Obi (CEPO), the veteran movie star urged citizens, youth groups, and diaspora supporters to back Obi’s leadership to foster transparent governance and economic renewal.
Why is Patience Ozokwor advocating for Peter Obi and a ‘New Nigeria’?
Addressing supporters and media representatives alongside fellow entertainment industry figures, Ozokwo emphasized that Nigeria’s vast human and natural resources require prudent leadership to unlock their full potential. She praised Obi’s track record of fiscal discipline during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State, describing him as a credible leader capable of addressing national socio-economic challenges.
“We want anybody that loves Nigeria and wants everything good for Nigeria to support this cause. Children, youths, and God want Obi. We have seen that Obi as a former governor is prudent with public funds and used them judiciously. He has credibility. We want him to come and change things and mend things.”
“For the sake of our children’s future and posterity, please support this cause. This is the time to bring sane people into the political life of Nigeria. If Nigeria had got leadership right, her material resources and endowment would have made the country stand out among the comity of nations.”
The campaign movement, which brings together prominent Nollywood actors, cultural icons, and civil society advocates, aims to drive door-to-door civic sensitization, voter education, and grassroots mobilization to support democratic participation across Nigeria’s 36 states.
“All of us in the industry, apart from a few, are solidly behind Peter Obi to provide the right leadership for the nation. Any support for this movement is an investment that Nigerian children and unborn generations will reap.”
Ozokwo’s public advocacy continues to resonate across social media and civic platforms as political stakeholders and youth movements align ahead of upcoming electoral cycles. Will celebrity-driven civic mobilization significantly boost voter turnout and grassroots engagement across Nigeria?
