The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested social media personality Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” in connection with an international cocaine trafficking syndicate. In an official statement released on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.) confirmed that the operation yielded 184.50 kilogrammes of cocaine valued at N39 billion ($27 million) intercepted at a courier firm in Lagos.
How was ‘KC Luxury’ apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport?
NDLEA operatives intercepted the 38-year-old suspect on August 13, 2026, at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, as he prepared to board a business-class flight to Paris, France. Michael, who presented himself on social media as a legitimate dealer in gold, high-end jewelry, and luxury apparel, allegedly served as the Nigerian ringleader of a cartel shipping narcotics through courier logistics networks to the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia. Law enforcement officers recovered €7,750, £2,800, and N100,000 in cash alongside high-value jewelry from his person, while a subsequent search of his Banana Island residence led to the seizure of several exotic vehicles. Operatives also arrested his associate, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a courier staff member who allegedly processed the syndicate’s international shipments.
“This cartel leader did not walk into our custody voluntarily. Upon credible intelligence that he intended to flee the country, our operatives moved decisively and apprehended him at the boarding gate just as he attempted to escape the reach of the law.”
The NDLEA Chairman emphasized that the arrest underscores the agency’s tracking capabilities against organized crime figures who utilize legitimate business fronts to disguise illicit enterprises.
“To those who believe they can hide behind luxury lifestyle branding or social media influence to run illicit drug networks, this operation serves as a clear signal that no cartel ringleader is beyond the reach of law enforcement.”
“Our international collaboration and intelligence-led operations will continue to track down and dismantle organized drug syndicates, regardless of how well-disguised their logistics operations may appear.”
The suspect remains in NDLEA custody alongside co-conspirators pending formal arraignment in federal court. Meanwhile, security observers have commended the agency’s coordinated intelligence work with international partners in intercepting the shipment. Will the dismantling of the syndicate lead to further arrests among domestic logistics intermediaries handling international cargo.
