Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command have arrested a suspected drug kingpin and seized hundreds of bags of Canadian Loud valued at ₦7.8 billion in a major raid in Lagos.The operation, carried out in the Mende area of Maryland, also saw the suspect allegedly offer a ₦500 million bribe to stop the raid — an offer that was firmly rejected.
Lagos Police Raid Uncovers Massive Drug Warehouse
The breakthrough followed months of surveillance and intelligence gathering. On May 19, 2026, a combined team from Zone 2 Command, the Special Protection Unit and divisional detectives stormed a three-bedroom apartment and warehouse at No. 10 Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street, Arowojobe Estate, Mende, Maryland.
Suspect Offered ₦500 Million Bribe
They recovered 425 bags of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis that has gained popularity in parts of Nigeria. The drugs were concealed inside the property, which police believe served as a storage and distribution point for a larger network.Police also recovered vehicles fitted with fake “Presidency” and National Youth Council of Nigeria number plates, allegedly used to move the illicit substances without drawing attention.The prime suspect, 41-year-old Eke Henry Ifeanyi, was arrested at the scene. He is said to have operated under the cover of a business called Ogata Venture Limited.
Rising Concern Over Canadian Loud in Nigeria
Canadian Loud has become one of the most talked-about cannabis strains among some Nigerian youths in recent times. Its potency and the way it is promoted on social media and in music have raised concerns among security agencies and parents.This latest bust comes days after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) also arrested a 63-year-old Chinese woman at Lagos airport with 31kg of the same substance.Police have urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that can help dismantle drug syndicates operating in the state.The command said it remains committed to sustained operations against illicit drug trafficking and other organised crimes.
