The self-styled Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been arrested by security operatives.
His arrest came shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his apprehension.
Adeniyi Adeyemi, who had been parading himself as the Director-General of PFIPC — an agency that does not exist — was picked up on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
The development follows recent allegations linking him to a bribery scandal involving the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. Adeyemi had earlier accused Gbajabiamila of demanding a percentage of funds meant for the non-existent agency.
The arrest was carried out after the Federal High Court granted an ex-parte order for his apprehension.
Adeniyi Adeyemi came into public focus after he claimed that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 percent of the take-off grant for the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, which he said amounted to over N27 billion.
He further alleged that Gbajabiamila had collected N400 million through a proxy, with an additional N200 million still being demanded to facilitate his appointment as Director-General.
The claims added to existing controversies surrounding a leaked Aso Rock memo in which Gbajabiamila allegedly directed the allocation of N54 billion from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) using what critics described as a questionable legal basis.
Justice Mohammed Umar’s decision to issue an arrest warrant followed an application before the Federal High Court. The court’s swift action has been welcomed by many observers monitoring the unfolding scandal.
