Alleged forgery of court judgment CTC sparks political friction in Imo State

Alleged forgery of a court judgment Certified True Copy (CTC) has triggered intense political friction in Imo State following reports that official judicial records were falsified to mislead the public and influence ongoing legal disputes. Opposing political groups and civic commentators raised concerns after notable discrepancies emerged between the certified document presented by government representatives and the original court records held by the judiciary.

What led to the allegations of court judgment forgery in Imo State?

The controversy surrounds claims that altered judicial documentation was circulated to create a false impression regarding court rulings on local governance and electoral disputes. According to legal analysts, fabricating a Certified True Copy (CTC) of a judicial judgment constitutes a severe breach of electoral integrity and criminal law, carrying serious implications for public trust in the state’s legal institutions. Representatives from opposition parties called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) and federal law enforcement agencies to launch an immediate investigation into the origin of the questioned documents and prosecute those responsible for tampering with official records.

In response to the allegations, government spokespersons and APC leadership in the state dismissed the claims as politically motivated propaganda designed to smear the administration and undermine public confidence. They maintained that the administration strictly adheres to the rule of law and that all official filings and public statements align with genuine judicial directives issued by competent courts. Meanwhile, civil society groups emphasize that independent verification of court documents by the judiciary is essential to prevent misinformation and uphold the sanctity of the justice system.

“Manipulating judicial documents and circulating falsified court records undermines the bedrock of our democratic institutions. The judiciary must act decisively to protect the integrity of its certified records.”

As legal teams prepare for further court appearances, observers stress that transparent judicial proceedings are vital to resolving political disputes in Imo State. The National Judicial Council and law enforcement agencies are under increasing pressure to clarify the authenticity of the contested documents and reassure the public. Will judicial authorities conduct an official inquiry to hold those behind the document falsification accountable
